Reading and Writing

When encouraged to write, I am pretty good at it.  I won the Strikewriters Contest, and like to get creative with my stories.  I am hooked on reading.  I average about 48 books a year.   Most kids probably don't get in trouble for reading too much, but more than a few times, I've been told to "Quit reading and go do something outside."  So one time, I took my book outside.  "What?   That's not what you meant, Mom?"

Author Crystal Allen, known for her books, The Laura Line and How Lamar's Bad Prank Won a Bubba Sized Trophy, visited our school and held a writing contest.  My entry, "The Deer Incident," was one of our school's winners.  She personally critiqued my writing, I won some extra library privileges, and Mrs. Allen bought all of the winners lunch.  I was also published, along with other Strikwriters, on her website.  https://crystalallenbooks.com/strikewriters-2018-2019.php

Two weeks at Writing Camp . . . I put my all into it and had fun in the process.

I read.  A lot.  My library card shows I've checked out almost 385 books since 2017.  I've probably read about two-thirds of them.   Some of my favorite series' I have read through multiple times.
